Electric vehicle recovery

Electric vehicles need different handling — from battery isolation to loading angle. Our team recovers your EV safely on a flatbed, anywhere in the UK.

What's included

  • Recovery for fully electric and hybrid vehicles
  • Flatbed transport as standard, never towed on wheels where it risks the drivetrain
  • Careful handling around high-voltage battery systems
  • Recovery to a dealership, charge point, or home address
  • Support for both flat-charge and mechanical or electrical faults

When you need this

If your EV has run out of charge somewhere you can't reach a charge point, or has a warning light or fault it shouldn't be driven with, it needs a flatbed recovery — not a standard tow.

WHY FLATBED MATTERS

Towing most EVs on their wheels can damage the motor and battery system. We recover electric vehicles on a flatbed as standard, to protect the drivetrain. See our full recovery service →

EV RECOVERY

Electric car recovery in Manchester and across the UK

An electric car that will not move is a different job from a petrol or diesel breakdown. Whether the battery has run flat between charge points, a warning light has come on or the car has gone into a fault mode, we recover it on a flatbed so the wheels are off the ground and the drivetrain is protected. We cover Manchester and Greater Manchester and recover electric and hybrid vehicles across the UK.

Tell us the make and model, how much charge is left, any warning lights and exactly where you are. We confirm the price and the timing before anyone sets off, then take the car to a charge point, a dealership, a garage or your home.

WHY A FLATBED

Why electric cars should not be towed on their wheels

Many electric cars drive through their wheels directly, so turning those wheels without power can damage the motor or other drivetrain parts. Some cars also have a parking lock or a fault that stops the wheels turning at all. Always check the handbook, but a flatbed avoids the problem: the whole car is lifted clear of the road and strapped down.

For more on what happens when an electric car runs out of charge, read our guide to an EV battery breakdown, and see EV tyres if your EV needs tyres. For a general look at recovery methods, see our towing and recovery page.

FAQ

Common questions

Can you recover an electric car?

Yes. We recover fully electric and hybrid vehicles on a flatbed, so the car is lifted clear of the road and strapped down rather than towed on its wheels.

Why does an electric car need a flatbed?

Towing many electric cars on their wheels can damage the motor or other drivetrain parts, and some have a parking lock that stops the wheels turning. A flatbed avoids these problems. Always check your handbook if you are unsure.

My electric car has run out of charge. What should I do?

Put your hazard lights on, move to a safe place if you can and call us. We recover the car on a flatbed and take it to a charge point, a garage or your home.

Where will you take my electric car?

Wherever you choose: a charge point, a dealership, a garage or your home address. Tell us the destination when you call.

Do you recover hybrid cars as well?

Yes. We recover hybrids and plug-in hybrids on a flatbed in the same way.

How much does electric car recovery cost?

Towing and recovery starts from £65. The final price depends on where you are, the distance, the vehicle and the time of day, and we confirm it before we set off. See our pricing page for details.

Can you recover an electric car from the motorway?

Yes. Leave the vehicle by the nearside doors if you can, wait behind the barrier and call us. For motorway breakdowns we aim to respond within 45 minutes, subject to traffic, location and availability.

Can I travel with my car?

Seating in a recovery vehicle is limited, so ask when you book who can come with it.
